Best of 2008

As the magazines and critics compile their lists for the greats of 08, I, of course, feel obliged to voice my opinion. The end product provides the perfect platform for a posting place. Oh, literary devices...

In retrospect, it's not that easy to formulate a Top Anything List. So please, feel honoured that I decided to make available what my countless hours of procrastination provides: well, nothing really, but perhaps a tidbit of musical knowledge. Feel free to, you know, find some of the music I mention and give it a spin! Or, don't!

Highlighting the list:
  • Bon Iver. This is an amazingly passionate album. You listen and you love. You must.
  • The Dodos. Wow. Alternative Folk. My first listen turned into album on repeat.
  • M83. Listening=Essential. Relax and get synthesized.
  • Little Joy. From the Strokes to the incredibly lo-fi folk genre. So chill.
  • Jenny Lewis. Plethora of guests for the Rilo Kiley frontwoman. Stradles country and folk.
  • Megapuss. Devendra Banhart defines freak folk. Every project is awesome.
  • Portishead. New to me. A couple more listens and it would be top 10, for sure. My apologies.
